Sept 10, 2004, Los Angeles, CA -- Alejandro
Sanz' "No Es Lo Mismo" swept the awards show at the Shrine
Auditorium in Los Angeles last week, taking home trophies for Record
of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop
Vocal Album. Additionally,
"No es lo Mismo" won the award for best-engineered album,
an honor that went to engineers Rafa Sardina and Mick Guzauski.
Rafa who engineered
the entire album between Miami, Spain and Los Angeles accepted his
award during the pre-telecast. "It was truly a pleasure working
with Alejandro, Lulo and all the cast of great session players.
Alejandro is an amazingly talented songwriter and musician and his
production team made my work sound as good as it gets," says
Sardina.
Sanz's co-producer Lulo Perez accepted the award
for him, while backstage, the album's engineer, Bob Ludwig said,
"I've been in the field for 30 years and to have Alejandro
come through for me is great."
Additionally, Sardina won Best Engineering Award
during Music Awards held in Madrid, Spain earlier this year. The
Latin Grammy for best engineer will be Rafa's 6th Grammy win with
total of 12 nominations for the mixer/engineer to-date.
Sanz who was
touring in Spain during the Grammy ceremony, adds the four trophies
to a shelf that already holds seven previous Latin Grammys; the
11 awards make him the top Latin Grammy winner of all time. The
album won a Grammy in the best Latin Pop category earlier this year
during the Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles Earlier In July, Sanz,
Maria Rita (who took 3 Latin Grammys) and octogenarian Cuban pianist
Bebo Valdes shared honors as the most nominated performers for the
show, including best-album for Sanz's No Es Lo Mismo.
